Introduction
Welcome to our GED science test study guide! In this guide, you’ll learn the test inside and out.
Note
In the sections below, important vocabulary words and concepts are highlighted in bold.
To get started, here are the two most important pieces of information you need to know about the test.
Number of Questions | Time Limit |
About 34 | 90 minutes |
The number of GED science questions varies by state, but you can expect to have at least two minutes per question. That may seem like a lot, but each question will ask you to read and analyze a stimulus. That’s why it’s important that once you finish this study guide, take a timed, full-length practice test to determine whether you need to work on time management.
Like the other parts of the GED, the science test has a 145 minimum passing score.
Content Areas | Approximate Percentage of Questions |
Life Science | 40% |
Earth and Space Science | 20% |

Keep in mind that you do not need to memorize the information in this guide to pass the GED science test. However, familiarity with these topics will help you understand what each question asks and apply the necessary skills to find the right answer.
